TVS Apache has taken aim at Honda Unicorn, which currently occupies the premium bike market along with the Pulsar. The 150cc five-speed TVS Apache bike was launched by TVS Motor in March 2006.

TVS claims that Apache, with a 13.5 bhp powering it, will have the best power-to-weight ratio in its class. Apache promises instant acceleration, wonderful pick-up and a good top speed. The company also says the wide tyres ensure better grip on the road.

TVS is also planning to launch an entire set of accessories for the Apache, including helmets, gloves, goggles and jackets.

Suzuki Zeus, the latest bike from Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt Ltd has been launched. The 125cc single cylinder Suzuki Zeus comes at a price of f Rs 46,084. The bike had a soft launch earlier this year.Suzuki Zeus will be available in three colours, the company said.
These are Candy Antares Red (19A), Metallic Titanium Gold (YM3) and Pearl Nebular Black (YAY). To manufacture Suzuki Zeus and Suzuki Heat, the company has invested Rs 200 crore at its Gurgaon manufacturing plant. The production capacity of the plant is 100,000 bikes per annum..
The 125-cc bike market is the most crowded 2-wheeler segment in India. Suzuki Zeus and sibling Suzuki Heat will have an uphill task traying to carve out market share in this category.

Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi launch

Bajaj's Pulsar DTS-Fi 220cc motorcycle priced at around Rs 85,00.

Bajaj is coming out with the new Bajaj Pulsar DTS-Fi motorcycle, following the huge success of its Pulsar DTS-i. Bajaj's answer to Hero Honda's Karizma is expected to be out in some months. The Bajaj Pulsar 180cc DTS-i took biking to a new level, and the new Pulsar DTS-Fi is all set to take it to greater heights. The Bajaj Pulsar DTS-Fi is powered by a 220cc engine and offers a cool 20bhp. With 1.95kg of torque, it would be a wonder if this bike from Bajaj does not make it to the top of the charts.
The Bajaj Pulsar DTS-Fi is expected to touch a top speed of 135kph. That is an excellent top speed in Indian conditions, probably matched only by the Kinetic Aquila - which anyway is not available in India now.

What are the big innovations in this motorcycle?

The most important feature of all is the fuel injection mechanism, which is responsible for the quick throttle and the linear power curve. The Bajaj Pulsar DTS-Fi is the first Indian motorcycle with an oil cooled engine. Together, they make for a potent combination. The Hero Honda Karizma as well as the Pulsar DTS-Fi weigh 150 kgs, and the extra 3 bhp of the DTS-Fi as well as the power delivery characteristics make this an easy Karizma-beater.

Platina

Bajaj Platina, a new 100cc bike from Bajaj Auto to take on TVS Star City has been launched. The cheaper version will come for Rs 34,500, while the higher version of Bajaj Platina will cost Rs 36000. Both are ex-showroom prices, Delhi. Bajaj hopes to sell about 75,000-80,000 units of Platinas a month.

Will Bajaj Platina cannibalise Bajaj CT100? The company is expecting that to some extent, but maintains that it can make better margins out of the Platina.

Bajaj Auto has also announced plans to launch a dual-fuel bike which will run on CNG /LPG as well as petrol. The bike under development.
