Tvs Victor GLX
TVS Motor Company launched in Chennai on May 3 its TVS Victor GLX 125, a power and style-oriented 125 CC motorcycle targeted at the executive segment. This 125 cc 4-Stroke Victor GLX comes with the revolutionary Variable Timing intelligent engines (VT-i) and has been designed for the urban customers on the lookout for a peppy motorcycle combining both economy and performance. Together with the present Victor GL 110 CC the volumes of Victor series will see a boost in the coming months.
TVS Motor Company’s total two-wheeler sales in April 2004 stood at 81,032 units compared to 84,747 units, during the same period last year.
Since our first report on the TVS Victor GLX in September 2004, this bike has put away some serious mileage. Being taken over at that point by diligent correspondent Sushant Balsekar, it now has to traverse Thane to Mumbai on a daily basis. This fresh Victor, while no headturner, provides sincerely practical biking. With great palm-grips, comprehensive instrumentation and smartly buffed aluminium alloy treatment for its triple clamp and surrounding area, the Victor GLX enjoys an upmarket feel that is alien to its segment. We had earlier praised its headlamp and switchgear and they remain as silently efficient as on day one. While our earlier report had it that the bike was showing early spots of corrosion in places, these have neither mushroomed further nor attained any sort of significant proportion over the last five months. The other unique features of Victor GLX 125 include bigger clear lens speedometer, Aircraft style petrol tank lid, stylish die cast pillion foot-rest and a sporty silencer in chrome with heat shielder. The angular clear lens and dominating multi- reflector headlamp and the side stand alarm adds to the safety of the rider. Victor GLX 125 will be available in dual colours of black-silver, black-yellow Green-Silver and Blue-Silver. For those wanting extra punch to their vehicle have the option of disc brakes and trip & tacho meter.
The VT-i engines technology is based on three fundamental actions namely:
1. Variable ignition timing and superior combustion of fuel
2. Friction reduction
3. Fuel wastage reduction.
These actions facilitate deceleration fuel cut off, faster warm up of the Engine and has a four-curve ignition mapping.
This motorcycle is supported with a rectangular box type swing arm, 5-step adjustable rear shock absorber and 130 dia front & rear brake drum and designed keeping in mind the rider’s safety, style and comfort.
